Lesson Plan 1

Class duration: 40 minutes

  • Lesson objectives: The students will learn-
  • to converse with people in English
  • the phrases and words needed for an
    initial conversation
  • Materials: NCTB Textbook Unit 1 lesson 1-2, handouts, board, markers
Steps Activity Times

The teacher enters the classroom and says “good morning” to students. The teacher encourages students to say “good morning” in return.

The teacher then tells the students that they are going to play a game in teams and whichever team finishes first, will be the winner. The teacher divides the students in groups of 3 or 4.The teacher next gives paper strips to students containing different parts of a conversation. Students are supposed to arrange the paper strips in the correct order to make a proper dialogue exchange. The teacher gives the instructions to students and asks one or two students randomly what they are supposed to do to confirm students have understood the instructions correctly

Next the teacher distributes the paper strips to each group containing statements from a conversation that students have to arrange in the correct order. The teacher moves from group to group and monitors. The teacher will facilitate wherever needed.

Once the time is up the teacher selects two students from one or two groups randomly and tells them to deliver the dialogues in front of the class. The students act accordingly.

The teacher tells the students that they will be asked the opening and ending phrases used in the conversation in the next class. The teacher then ends the class by saying “goodbye”

Dialogue Exchange for Paper Strips

  • to name the days of a week
  • Materials: NCTB Textbook Unit 1 lesson 1-2, colored papers, markers.

The teacher enters the classroom and says “good morning” to students. The teacher encourages students to say “good morning” in return.

The teacher then reviews the previous class and writes students’ responses on the board.

Next the teacher divides the students in groups of 3 or 4, and gives each group blank paper sheets of 7 different colours, markers, staplers and paper calendars. Students are supposed to take help of the calendar and write the names of seven different days in seven different coloured papers. Once they are done with writing they will staple the papers one after another and create a chain of days.

Once the time is up the teacher selects two or three groups randomly and tells them to come in front of the class to present their chain of days.

The teacher tells the students that they will be asked about the days of a week in the next class. The teacher then ends the class by saying “goodbye”
